Who needs a guest room when you can have a chandelier and see every. single. piece. of clothing you own! Who cares if you wear it LOL you can hang it up!
I only wear like one tenth of my clothes, but at least now, I know exactaly what I have. Plus, I feel super fancy getting ready everyday, in my beautiful new dressing room!!
Enthusiastically, I flip through my colorful sweaters and endless blazers. YES, I think I will wear one of these today. I try it on, spin around in front of the mirror, hang it back up, and grab my favorite black shirt and a skirt. :)
You see, it really doesn't matter how many clothes you have or how many of them you actually wear. The Question is, wouldn't you love to be able see them all hanging up, around a beautiful chandelier? My guess is yes. Yes, you would!
So, welcome to my newly remodeled little slice of dressing room heaven. I hope it inspires you to convert your guest room. You and I both know you don't want your in-laws to spend the night, anyways. haha
Tip #1: Fuzzy black hangers are EVERYTHING!
For sure buy these for your dressing room. It won't look nearly as cool with the plastic ones LOL
Plus everything stays put. You won't have your shirts slipping off and falling on the floor like they do when you shop. SO ANNOYING.
BTW, this is my loverboy. :)
He converted the room for me, bitching the entire time. He thought it was a stupid idea until it was finished. Then he cried until I give him 2 entire rods for his hoodies. haha
Tip # 2: REFURBISH a sucky dresser.
I redid this old, cheap, white dresser by modge podging craft paper to the front and painting the top. It turned out super cute!! It's like a little kitchen island in the center of the room. DANG, I should get some fancy new handles, now that I see it up close like this! :)
I went with a gold, tiffany blue, and map theme for my (our) dressing room. The idea was to have the maps inspire us to take more vacations. :) The tiffany blue idea came from the paint I bought. Basically, the craft store had like four choices of chalk paint and this was the best of the four. I love how it all goes together!!
Before I started painting furniture I heard you should only use chalk paint for the best results. Since this closet project I have painted 4 or 5 more tables and discovered regular paint works just as well on real wood. Chalk paint does work best if you are painting over a plastic finish (like this cheap dresser).
Tip # 3: Paint all the things GOLD!
I had to get the paper mache booby thing because it was so walk-in-closety. The lamp, hanging coffee mug holder, and spice rack, all came from my favorite thrift stores. Perfect for the budget and super easy to spray paint.
I love the spice rack for my perfume, lipsticks, and nail polish.
My gold mug holder displays all the necklaces and bracelets I never wear. haha
Tip # 4: EVERY dressing room needs a makeup table!
We had this old country style table in the storage shed and not enough space for the whole thing so we sawed it in half!! WHOA-LA the perfect sized makeup table screwed right to the wall! Clever, right?!
Tip # 5: Make your mirror FUN!
Man, I love modge podge. I will put that %$#@ on everything. LOL It's an easy, messy way to get your creative juices flowing! The Swaggy cut-out and the banner are my favorites. OH WAIT, I love the Who doesn't love a birthday, that one makes me smile everyday. My birthday month is my favorite holiday. :)
Tip # 6: A COOL matching chair!
Whatever, I had a lot of paint left over so the chair got painted, too. LOL I found it at Value Village for $9.99. SCORE! I wish I had taken a before picture because it was reeeaaally bad. The cushion was hunter green with terrible stripes and gross spider webs underneath.
Tip # 7: Cute matching BASKETS for storage!
I store my leggings and pjs in these flip top, tiffany blue baskets I found at HomeGoods. The gold one below fits my curling irons and hair dryer perfectly. OOOHHH and don't forget music in your dressing room!! You have to be able to blast your favorite songs while you get ready. :)
THAT'S ALL.
WAIT, one more picture of the chandelier!!!!
It provides no light at all (I might not even have it plugged in) LOL
but who cares, it makes me so happy!
